Interpretation

Antibodies against Desmoglein is a marker for pemphigus. In pemphigus vulgaris the antibodies are mainly directed against the extracellular domain of Desmoglein 3 but antibodies against Desmoglein 1 may also occur. In pemphigus foliaceus the antibodies are mainly directed against Desmoglein 1.
