DIAGNOSTIC TEST 959
Ganglionic AChR Antibodies
Diagnostic test for antibodies against Ganglionic AChR2. For suspected autoimmune autonomic neuropathies.
Indication
Suspected autoimmune autonomic neuropathies
Method
The test is performed in serum with Radioimmunoprecipitation (RIA)
Result
The result is reported as negative, borderline or positive with a value.
Reference interval:
<10 pmol/L negative
10-15 pmol/L borderline
Interpretation
Antibodies against nicotinic ganglionic acetylcholine receptors (g-AChR) can cause autoimmune autonomic ganglionopathy (AAG), a rare autoimmune disease affecting the sympathetic and parasympathetic ganglia leading to dysautonomia. The alpha-3 subunit is considered to be the main target antigen. Antibody titers correlates with the severity of symptoms.
