DIAGNOSTIC TEST 986

Neurogranin

Diagnostic test for Neurogranin. For Alzheimer's disease, memory examination.

Indication

Suspicion of Alzheimer's disease and in memory examination

Sample material

CSF

  • Minim. volume: 0,5 mL

Transport

  • Within Sweden: frozen
  • International: frozen

Method

ELISA

Reference interval

<245 ng/L normal

Result

Results are reported as normal or elevated with a concentration (ng/L).

Interpretation

Neurogranin is a postsynaptic protein that is important for memory function and is expressed in areas damaged by Alzheimer’s disease. Elevated levels can be seen in the early stages and are higher in Alzheimer's disease compared to other neurodegenerative diseases.
