Interpretation

Antibodies against Zic4 may occur with paraneoplastic neurological disease associated with small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and also in SCLC without associated neurological symptoms. Antibodies against Zic4 are often seen in combination with antibodies against, e.g., Hu and CV2. Patients who have only Zic4 antibodies usually have pure cerebellar degeneration, while patients with a combination of Zic4 and other autoantibodies have a broader spectrum of symptoms.
