DIAGNOSTIC TEST 023

dsDNA Antibodies (IgG)

Diagnostic test for antibodies against dsDNA. For suspicion of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or incipient exacerbation of this disease, autoimmune hepatitis type.

Indication

Suspicion of systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE) or incipient exacerbation of this disease, chronic aggressive hepatitis of the “lupoid hepatitis” (autoimmune hepatitis) type.

Sample material

Serum

  • Minim. volume: 0,5 mL

Transport

Within Sweden

  • room temperature

International

  • cold

Method

Indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) on Crithidia luciliae

Reference interval

<1:10 negative

Result

Results are reported as negative or positive with a fluorescence intensity. Positive results will be titrated.

Interpretation

IgG antibodies against dsDNA are a strong marker for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and are associated with SLE-nephritis but can also be seen in autoimmune hepatitis type 1. In SLE, a rise in antibody level often indicates increased disease activity, while levels often drop under remission.
