DIAGNOSTIC TEST 071

Endomysial Antibodies (IgA)

Diagnostic test for suspicion of celiac disease (CD) or dermatitis herpetiformis.

Indication

Suspicion of celiac disease (CD) or dermatitis herpetiformis

Sample material

Serum

  • Minim. volume: 0,5 mL

Transport

  • Within Sweden: room temperature
  • International: cold

Method

Indirect immunofluorescence (IIF)

Reference interval

Negative

Result

Results are reported as negative or positive with fluorescence intensity

Interpretation

Anti-endomysial IgA antibodies is a strong diagnostic marker for celiac disease.

Note! Determination of IgA level in serum is not included in the test. In case of IgA-deficiency, IgA-antibodies cannot be detected and analysis of antibodies of IgG-class against endomysial tissue or transglutaminase 2 is then recommended.
