Indirect immunofluorescence (IIF)

Result

Serum: Results are reported as negative or positive with titer.

CSF: Results are reported as negative or positive.

Interpretation

Purkinje cell antigen 2 (PCA-2) are expressed in neuronal tissue, antibodies directed against PCA-2 can be associated with breast, ovary, and small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Common symptoms are encephalomyelitis and cerebellar degeneration with ataxia.
