Diagnostic test for antibodies against fibrillarin. For suspicion of scleroderma.

Suspicion of scleroderma, differential diagnosis for Raynaud's phenomenon.

Result
The result is expressed as negative, borderline, or positive with a value.
Interpretation
Fibrillarin antibodies occur in about 4% of patients with systemic scleroderma, often together with antibodies against centromeres, RNA-polymerase, and Scl-70. It has also been described in SLE and primary Raynaud's phenomenon. Anti-fibrillarin is more common in patients of African descent than Caucasians. Anti-fibrillarin is more specific for the diffuse form of scleroderma than the limited one.
