DIAGNOSTIC TEST 028

SSB/La Antibodies

Diagnostic test for antibodies against SSB. For suspicion of Sjogren's syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus.

Indication

Suspicion of Sjogren's syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus

Sample material

Serum

  • Minim. volume: 0,5 mL

Transport

Within Sweden

  • room temperature

International

  • cold

Method

Immunoblot

Reference interval

  • ≤10 negative

Result

Results are reported as negative or positive with an intensity value. Positive results are confirmed with ELISA.

Interpretation

Anti-SSB (La) antibodies occur almost always in conjunction with anti-SSA and are seen above all in primary Sjogren's syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus. Antibodies against SSB (La) are also associated with small fiber neuropathy. The clinical relevance of isolated anti-SSB antibodies is unclear.
