Small Fiber Neuropathy (SFN)
Diagnostic test panel for antibodies against FGFR3, TS-HDS, and Plexin D1. For small fiber neuropathy and suspicion of inflammatory sensory neuropathy.
Indication
Suspicion of small fiber neuropathy and inflammatory sensory neuropathy.

Clinical background
Antibodies against Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGFR3) have been reported with sensory neuropathy in patients with autoimmune diseases.
IgM-antibodies against trisulfated heparan disaccharide (TS-HDS) are reported in a subgroup of patients with small fiber neuropathy. TS-HDS IgM-antibodies seem more frequent and specific for small fiber neuropathy than IgG-antibodies against FGFR3.
Antibodies against Plexin D1 can be detected in polyneuropathy patients with sensory polyneuropathy, which is often characterized as burning pain and thermal hyperalgesia.
