iLite® hCG Assay Ready Cells
BM4080
The iLite® hCG assay provides a sensitive, cell-based method for quantifying human chorionic gonadotropin bioactivity — an essential tool for potency testing of fertility and pregnancy-related products.
- High sensitivity and large dynamic range
- "Assay-ready" format for rapid and convenient use
- Reproducible and biologically relevant results
- Reduced assay variability and higher reproducibility compared to cells in culture
- Normalization of cell counts and serum matrix effects using a second reporter gene
Product Overview
iLite® hCG Assay Ready Cells can be used for the quantification of hCG activity, or neutralizing antibody response against hCG in test samples, including human serum.
Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a glycoprotein hormone produced by the placenta during pregnancy and the hormone can also be used clinically to induce ovulation in the ovaries as part of a fertility treatment. hCG can be used as a tumor marker as its β subunit is secreted by certain types of cancer cells.
The assay ready iLite® hCG cells are human HEK293 cells genetically engineered and optimized to be responsive to hCG, resulting in a proportional expression of Firefly Luciferase. Normalization of cell counts, and serum matrix effects is obtained by a second reporter gene, a Renilla Luciferase reporter gene construct, under control of a constitutive promotor.
