iLite® Custom Cell Line Development

iLite technology is a powerful cell-based technique used to measure and quantify molecules in biological samples. It has applications throughout the drug development process as well as for monitoring biological drugs.

Get a custom iLite cell line tailored to your needs

Svar Life Science offers iLite cells for a long list of targets. However, should your target not be included on the list, we can create a custom iLite cell line tailored for your needs. In addition, we offer a wide range of custom services to support drug development programs from discovery to lot release.

Creating a custom iLite cell line

We have over 15 years of experience creating iLite cell lines. In addition to our off-the-shelf products, we have developed custom assays for a wide range of targets and customers.

The benefits of iLite technology

Each iLite cell has receptors on its cell surface which are specific for the molecule for which the cell line was designed. Upon binding of the molecule to its receptor, a luciferase reporter gene is activated. Following cell lysis and the addition of a substrate, the luciferase protein can be measured using a luminometer.

As a unique feature, iLite cells contain a second reporter gene which is used for normalization purposes. It can be used to compensate for serum matrix effects or for differences in cell number for example.

iLite cells are shipped in an assay-ready format, which offers great convenience and improved reproducibility while at the same time saves time and labor.

FAQ

What is iLite® Custom Cell Line Development?

plus-sign

iLite® Custom Cell Line Development is a service that enables researchers to obtain reporter gene cell lines tailored to their specific biological target and assay requirements. The service combines Svar's expertise in cell engineering with the proven iLite technology platform.

What types of targets can be incorporated into a custom iLite® cell line?

plus-sign

Custom iLite cell lines can be developed for a wide range of biological targets, including cytokines, growth factors, receptors, antibodies, and other therapeutic targets. Each project is designed around the customer's scientific and analytical requirements.

When should I choose a custom cell line instead of an off-the-shelf assay?

plus-sign

A custom cell line may be the best option when no suitable ready-made assay is available, when a unique biological target needs to be measured, or when specific performance characteristics are required for a research or development program.

How does the custom cell line development process work?

plus-sign

The process typically begins with a scientific discussion to define the project objectives and assay requirements. Svar's cell line experts then design, develop, characterize, and validate a custom reporter cell line tailored to the project's needs.

What applications can custom iLite® cell lines support?

plus-sign

Custom iLite cell lines can support drug discovery, biological characterization, potency testing, biomarker assessment, translational research, and other applications where quantitative measurement of biological activity is required.

How long does a custom cell line development project typically take?

plus-sign

Project timelines vary depending on the complexity of the target and assay requirements. Following an initial consultation, Svar's scientific team can provide an estimated timeline based on the scope of the project.

What are the advantages of iLite® technology?

plus-sign

iLite technology combines biologically relevant cellular responses with simple and quantitative reporter gene readouts. The platform is designed to deliver sensitive, reproducible, and easy-to-use assays that support both research and drug development activities.

What deliverables are included in a custom cell line development project?

plus-sign

Deliverables may include the engineered cell line, assay protocols, technical documentation, characterization data, and scientific support. Project deliverables are defined according to each customer's requirements.

Can custom cell lines be used for potency assays and drug development?

plus-sign

Yes. Custom iLite cell lines are frequently developed to support potency testing, mechanism-of-action studies, biological characterization, and other activities throughout the drug development process.

How do I get started with a custom cell line project?

plus-sign
