Interpretation
Ryanodine receptors (RyR) is one of the most important mediators of calcium release in muscle cells as well as one of the most important steps in muscle contraction. There are several isoforms of ryanodine receptors. RYR1 is expressed primarily in striated muscle, while RyR2 is expressed mainly in myocardium. Anti-RyR1 antibodies are detected by thymoma and myopathy and in connection with myasthenia gravis (MG).
Generally, treatment with immunotherapy is more effective against auto-antibodies directed to extracellular antigens than with auto-antibodies against intracellular antigens.

Tolkning
Ryanodin receptorer (RyR) är en av de viktigaste mediatorerna av kalciumjon frisläppning i muskelceller som ett av de viktigaste stegen i muskelkontraktion. Det finns flera isoformer av ryanodin receptorer och RyR1 utrycks primärt i tvärstrimmig muskel medan RyR2 yttrycks främst i myocardium. Anti-RyR1 antikroppar detekteras vid thymom och myopati och i förbindelse med Myasthenia gravis (MG).Generellt sett är behandling med immunoterapi oftare effektfull vid auto-antikroppar riktade mot extracellulära antigen än vid auto-antikroppar mot intracellulära antigen.
