INDIVIDUAL TEST 876

GABA-A receptor antibodies

Indication

Suspicion of autoimmune encephalitis.

Method

Indirect immunofluorescence. The method is not yet validated.

Response

Reported as negative or positive with titer. Can be tested in serum and CSF.

Interpretation

Autoantibodies against GABA-A receptor (Gamma-amino butyric acid type A receptor) have been reported in patients with autoimmune encephalitis. Typical clinical features include encephalitis with seizures (including status epilepticus), confusion, disorientation, hallucinations, cognitive dysfunction. Lower titers have also been associated with Stiff person syndrome.

ENSKILD ANALYS 876

GABA-A receptor antikroppar

Indikation Misstanke om autoimmun encefalit.

Metod Indirekt immunofluorescens.
