INDIVIDUAL TEST 876

GABA A Receptor Antibodies (IgG)

Indication Suspicion of autoimmune encephalitis.

Method Indirect immunofluorescence. The method is not yet validated for clinical laboratory routine diagnostics.

Result Reported as negative or positive with titer.

Interpretation Autoantibodies against GABA-A receptor (Gamma-amino butyric acid type A receptor) have been reported in patients with autoimmune encephalitis. Typical clinical features include encephalitis with seizures (including status epilepticus), confusion, disorientation, hallucinations, cognitive dysfunction. Lower titers have also been associated with Stiff person syndrome.

Antibodies against GABA-A receptor are graded as Lower-risk antibodies with a frequency of <30% of underlying cancer and a positive result yields 0 points PNS score, according to Updated Diagnostic Criteria for Paraneoplastic Neurologic Syndromes.

ENSKILD ANALYS 876

GABA A receptor-antikroppar (IgG)

Indikation Misstanke om autoimmun encefalit.

Metod Indirekt immunofluorescens.
