The result is reported as normal, elevated or reduced in g/L.
Reference range
0.20-0.38 g/L
Interpretation
Results below the lower reference range limit may indicate hereditary angioedema type 1 (HAE type 1), or consumption of C1- inhibitor (can be seen in some malignancies). The result should primarily be verified with a new sample as well as to include analysis of C4.
Elevated concentration of C1-inhibitor can be seen in acute phase reaction and HAE type 2. Complement with test of C1-inhibitor function is recommended in case of HAE type 2 suspicion.

Tolkning
Resultat under referensområdesgränsen kan tyda på hereditärt angioödem typ 1 (HAE typ 1) eller konsumtion av C1-inhibitor (kan ses vid vissa maligniteter). Resultatet bör i första hand verifieras med nytt prov för verifiering och även inkludera analys av C4.
Förhöjd koncentration av C1-inhibitor, kan ses vid akutfasreaktion och HAE typ 2. Komplettering med test av C1-inhibitorfunktion rekommenderas vid misstanke om HAE typ 2.
